On The Hunt

I have been looking for a dress like this. I am infatuated with fragile materials. Anyone seen anything similar or any other dress with nice lace?

New Beginnings

For the sake of privacy, I will keep this post short. A new house is in my future and I am more excited than I can describe. We are three weeks from closing and it's what I am considering a new beginning.

New Years Themes

Merry Christmas

It is a family tradition that we open all of our presents on Christmas Eve so I am a little late technically sharing with you all a gift that I loved this year. Even so, I cheated and wanted to share two that I am particularly excited to use. The first, the new Beyonce perfume that I have been wanting to try. I am a huge fan of Beyonce Knowles so I was curious to see what she had been claiming to be so hot in her fragrance, Heat. The second, a new coat from my parents. I love coats and jackets more than I love shoes. I can't begin to explain my infatuation but I am sure if you have been following my blog for any given amount of time then you can see that is what the primary focus of my posts are about.
What was your favorite gift this holiday season?

Last Minute Shopping

I thought this would be a nice little post. I went to one of my favorite shopping areas in Dallas and had a great time with an old friend of mine, Alonzo. We met our sophomore year of college and became poker buddies in no time. Every night was poker night around the city. Wonderful memories. They have a giant Christmas tree that extends from the ground ice-rink floor up three stories of mall area. Every night at 7, I believe, they have a Christmas song medley with accompanying lights.
As for the desserts, the man decided to by 13 cookies and he surely ate all of them. Crazy how men can do the unthinkable and not gain a single pound. If only life were that easy for all of us, right?
Christmas is in 5 days. I hope every stays safe during their last minute holiday shopping.

Sunday Shoes

First Impressions

My mother has always stressed the importance of first impressions. "You must be a sophisticated lady even before you speak." My hair, jewlery, clothing, speech, every small aspect was stressed to be in accordance with that of a proper modern day lady. When she would have me wear slips under my dresses, I had to draw the line. As I began to dress myself, I decided this is too much. My elegance is not defined by my under garments which no one will see if I am truly a lady.
I found this top last year and I have not warn it a single time. I am still hesitant to make that initial move. It is sensual but I think if paired with other garments properly, it can have a touch of class. The problem however is figuring out how I want to pair it with the rest of my wardrobe.
What are your thoughts for this piece? Wear it or keep it for private use?

Holiday Break

School is finally over! I am so excited. I am still deciding how much time I went to spend back in my home town compared to the comfort of my own apartment.
Here is a small update for everyone. I got this bracelet in New York in August. I have always had some weird obsession with anything that reminds me of Xena. She was the first woman I knew to have jewelry strapped on her biceps without exception. I see that small obsession still lurks in my mind years later.
Now with the holiday break here, I should be updating more and posting more articles. It's a new section that I had added to the right. I hope when you're bored it offers a good read for you all.

Little Half Black Dress

I recently went into a thrift shop and found this cute little dress. It fits me nicely and I can't wait to wear it out. Especially with finals coming up next week, I needed some motivation for all of my hard work. As soon as the semester is over, I have promised myself that I will find an occasion for it, even if it is New Years.
Now, with that said, what is everyone doing for New Years? I actually kept this year's resolution and plan to continue it out in further years. Since I am constantly traveling between cities every weekend, I really do not know how I will find an event that works with my schedule. I sing at midnight and normally will go out to enjoy myself afterwards. How do you celebrate?

The Weeknd "The Knowing"

I have loved The Weeknd for quite sometime now. I am slightly bitter that he is doing so much work with Drake, being that I feel he is a wonderful artist on his own, but I still support the man's work. Here is the official music video for the final track of his House of Balloons mixtape.

Sad News

I am so sorry for the lack of updates. I am having some issues with my camera and also the close of school is very demanding right now. I will be back this weekend. Please look for the new posts and updates.
Much Love,
Janiece

A New Friend

What is better than a good price? I can't think of many things. I spontaneously decided to go to a store here in this small town and found this necklace. After all of the savings added up, I got it for less than 4.50. I don't expect it to last a lifetime but I expect it to last long enough for me to enjoy it at least a year. That is good enough by me.
So no more boring V-neck & jeans days. This necklace will soon become my V-neck's best friend.

5 Christmas Gifts For Your Boyfriend

5 Christmas Gifts For Your Boyfriend
Christmas has always been an awkwardly pleasurable holiday, and my favorite at that. Pleasurable in the sense that nothing compares to friends and family gathering around with food and gifts for a good full week. Awkward makes its way into the equation when I sit for days thinking of all the gifts I could possibly get my loved ones that I know they truly won't care for. When it comes to aunts, uncles, and cousins, scarves and chocolates do enough to get me by that year. Boyfriends are a different story.
Perhaps I am more complicated than I sometimes like to admit, however I know that I can give my boyfriend a great amount of obstacles, as I like to call them, on a daily basis. I know many women can agree. That said, boyfriends deserve a Christmas present that truly show the fruits of their labor. This Christmas holiday, try something different. Try to find something that appeals to their lifestyle, not just their refined interests like in years past.

1.  Message in Lights
Christmas lights come at such a low cost, this gift idea is highly dependent on your time and creative spirit. Create a message on a flat surface, such as a wall, especially for him. Something with an "I love you" or lyrics to your special song. Need I mention to cook him his favorite meal? Society tells us that men hardly have a romantic bone in their bodies, but that is far from the truth. Try the message in lights this year on your living room wall and celebrate a special holiday evening alone.
2. Game Tickets
Since the NBA is having a few difficulties this season due to the lockout, basketball is out of the question. But who says there aren't plenty of other sports worth enjoying? Baseball, Football, Hockey, Soccer are all ideas for starters. Often times, it's not always about it being your boyfriends favorite team or sport, it can be the experience that men love. Wild yelling, food, and beer is a perfect trifecta for a man. Buy two tickets to a game in your area, bring your fellow, buy some treats to enjoy during the game, and watch him light up.
3. Electronic Tablet
Men can keep busy lives just like any American woman. Tablets make managing life so easy by offering your personal files, web browsers, games, and planners all on one screen. More importantly, it offers all of this on the go with more aesthetic appeal than a smart phone can offer. A lot of tablet choices have risen to the scene since the release of the initial iPad. If the iPad is out of your price range, you still have options. HP Touchpad, Motorola Xoom, and Samsung Galaxy are just a few of the alternatives available on the market for you. Search around to see what's in your price range.
4. Sound System
I am aware that many couples are embracing cohabitation before marriage so this one may be a gift that the both of you can share. Consider investing in a home sound system. They vary in ranges and sound and can either be used for a home computer station or your home cinema on late movie nights. Bose, one of my favorites, has such clarity in their sound production, you will never be able to listen to music or watch movies with the same appreciation without them. If you want to go an extra mile, plan to watch an action film with him to break the speakers in or buy him a new CD from an artist that he enjoys.
5. A Tailored Suit
The face of the youthful businessman has changed so much in the last ten to twenty years. Entrepreneurs are surfacing at younger ages and making more than the godfathers of of the industry ever thought possible. I believe every man should own a tailored suit. Not simply for work but also for events around the city. This can be a little pricey, but a suit can last a lifetime. It's worth the investment. Men work a bit similar to women in this aspect; when they feel handsome and attractive, confidence is there to show for it.

Puerto Rican Fiesta

The first year that I went to visit my boyfriend at his home in Puerto Rico [2008], I went crazy with shopping. I did not want to buy the clothes that I could find anywhere, I bought the most colorful interesting pieces that I laid my eyes on. This red top was definitely my favorite of everything I bought but it is the one piece that I have never worn. I feel someone like a moving fiesta or even Selena when I have it on. I have no idea what to wear it with nor the proper way to pull it out. With summer weather (for Texas) drawing towards the end, I feel like this may just be my last few weeks to play with it.

Virtual Gifting

I love shopping online. I am not talking solidified website shopping, I mean blogger-next-door closet shopping. This came from an online friend's boutique. Also with a cute little "chestnut" colored bracelet. Surprisingly, it fits me with complete ease. She knew the perfect size to ship my way.
If I don't say it enough, if any of you have only shops that you want me to look at, I am always able to. Email me the link to see your gallery.
How do you feel about online shopping?

All Things Applied

Just an idea of what the previous post looks like in working pleasure. Surprisingly, it is my most comfortable outfit all week.

    Future GiveAway

I have been thinking about doing a giveaway. My blog is fairly new and it is a good chance to really solidify things. However the main issue I am having is WHAT DO I WANT TO GIVE AWAY? Shouldn't I let you all decide. So I have narrowed it down.
What do you want to see in a giveaway?
    Make-up
    Clothes
    Jewelry
I want as much input as I can get. I want to be sure that there are enough people to enter the giveaway to actually make it fun for everyone. No use in doing it if only five people enter, right? Let me know your thoughts and what has and/or has not worked for you.

    Chestnut Chill

I love this color and what I presume to be Chestnut. I have been trying to peel away from jeans this winter and needed more options for when I am rushing out the door. These slacks are high waisted, cuffed and pleated. The shoes speak for themselves. Classy? Probably not. Comfortable enough for long walks across campus? Most certainly. And while I am in college, that is nearly all that matters.

    Faux Winter

I am so anxious for winter to come to Texas. It takes a little longer than other places around the world.  I see all the snowy pictures from fellow bloggers and a little part of me gets jealous. I suppose I can drop my AC as low as possible, light candles, grab a drink, and pretend that there is a winter wonderland outside of my winter.
While shopping I stumbled across this beautiful throw for an amazing price and couldn't help myself. Needless to say, 80 degree weather or not, I am enjoying.

    Happy Halloween

I do not support the history of Halloween but I always fall into the trap of fun festivities. The outfit is ALWAYS the best part. For this year, let's say I was Cleopatra meets Michael Jackson's dream video girl. Creative, no? If I don't have you sold, when I first bought the outfit, for $15 might I add, it went to my ankles, full chest coverage and had a cape. The cape had to be thrown out all together, I cut a shape in the front chest and I roughly stitched the ends up to give a shorter body to the dress. As well, I bought a bicep bracelet last time I was in New York City and it was perfect for the costume. I did some work on my makeup, though make up is not my forte in the least bit, and TA-DA...! You have my Halloween costume.
I wore it twice, one night with my hair up, and one with my hair down. Both times my make up was different. Since today is the official day of celebration, I wish you all a safe night.

No drunk driving, no going home with the "attractive" zombie at the party, and by all means, NO STAYING HOME.
    xo Janiece

    Jungle Gym: 2 New Articles

    {NSFW}

I have recently done two articles for Jungle Gym Magazine that are worth checking out. Jungle Gym has so many updates for their viewers and that is enough in a publication to get me hooked. I sit through hours of lectures every day and I need something stimulating that is unlike anything else. The New Era article was about a creative competition that they launched and the Big Bad Wolf video is just a little something of humor - I suppose depending on your taste. once again, the video is NSFW. It's quite suggestive.
